I speak rarely and only if I must.
But that doesn’t mean that nothing matters to me.
They’ve distinguished the lights. It must be past twenty
I look out of the window. A few hours of freedom for me.
Streetlights enamoured by the twigs and leaves of the maple trees.
I shall visit them tomorrow, instead of these ballgames, competitive cultures, a shame.
Please know, I’m not ready. They stole the perfect melody.
Stay until the lights are off.
